 At last a Result A Found Missing Link!

Hello Cathy

I was reading about your search for information on your ancestors in Peter's Morecambe WEB site. I have been able to locate a few of them in the 1881 Census Returns.

First of all there were 129 WOODHOUSE's living in Poulton Barre & Torrisholme alone with the majority of the head of household being fishermen.

So here is the entry for your Grandfather George

===================================

The information in the census is in the order of "Name" "Marital Status" "Age" "Sex" "Place of birth" "Relation to the head of the household" "Occupation" So here are your Great Grandparents, Charles he's married, aged 24, born in Morecambe, he's the Head of the household and he's a fisherman.

Easy isn't it?

As for your Grandfathers sister, Beatrice, the "m" in the age column indicates months, so she's 1 month old. The census was taken on the 1st April so she was born in March 1881.

Next you asked about Nora, she wasn't born at the time, I looked for her father, Charles, and the only one in the area is your Great Grandfather above, maybe he remarried to Frances or maybe it's another Charles living in another place. So without further information there we don't know.

Next came William, and here he is...........

=================================

The "U" in the first two children indicates that they are "Unmarried", if they were under 16 there was no need to give marital status.

Well I'm sure this has grabbed your interest, now you can go a find the relationship between them all, good luck!

Just nine month ago I didn't even know my Grandmothers name and now I have documented over 900 relatives dating as far back as 1670.

If I can be of further help just ask.
